„Energiepreisbremsen“ für Unternehmen nicht sinnvoll

Die Energiepreisbremsen bei Strom und Gas in Deutschland werden mit dem jüngsten Gerichtsurteil aus Karlsruhe auf den Prüfstand gestellt. Ökonomen sehen die Entlastungen für Unternehmen in Form von Transferzahlungen und Subventionen kritisch: Eingriffe dieser Art, wie die geplante Absenkung der Stromsteuer für Unternehmen, sind keine sinnvolle Nutzung von Steuergeldern – so ein Fazit einer Studie des EPoS Economic Research Center der Universitäten Bonn und Mannheim. Im aktuellen Diskussionspapier „Hicks in HANK: Fiscal Responses to an Energy Shock“ werden die Wechselwirkungen staatlicher Eingriffe als Reaktion auf Energiepreisschocks untersucht.

The Bonn Graduate School of Economics invites qualified students to apply for admission of the combined MSc/PhD program. Interested students with a bachelor's or master's degree in economics or related disciplines are welcome to hand in their documents until March 15, 2024. There is an early admission round for complete applications handed in before January 15.

Greix – Real estate prices in Germany fall more sharply again

In the third quarter of 2023, residential property prices in Germany have fallen, in some cases significantly. Compared to the second quarter of 2023, all housing segments have become cheaper, although there are strong regional differences and outliers. Among the major cities, prices are most stable in Cologne and Berlin. The number of property transactions has fallen significantly. This is shown by the latest update of the German Real Estate Index (GREIX), a project of ECONtribute and the Kiel Institute, which tracks the development of German real estate prices using the latest scientific methodology. All data for currently 18 German cities and their districts is freely available at www.greix.de.
