"My fellow students have stood out the most—they are not only highly intelligent but also very sociable, which creates a collaborative environment that is further encouraged by the shared office space. The city itself is quiet and green, providing a relaxing atmosphere that is ideal for studying. Additionally, Bonn is well-connected, with easy access to Cologne, Frankfurt, and even France and Belgium, while still being a peaceful place that allows for focused academic work."

DOES THE BGSE PROGRAM MEET YOUR EXPECTATIONS?

"After joining, it quickly became clear how invested the faculty and staff are in helping students excel in both their studies and research. The coursework is quite challenging, but the close supervision and engagement of the teachers make it manageable. The program is highly international, with more than half of our cohort coming from outside Germany, and with everyone having diverse academic backgrounds. The BGSE does an excellent job of ensuring that everyone can follow the coursework."

WHAT MADE YOU CHOOSE BONN FOR YOUR STUDIES?

"What stood out to me the most about Bonn was the high quality and quantity of research, particularly the wide range of topics being explored by the large faculty. Additionally, Bonn’s strong international connections and reputation make it a standout choice in national comparisons. The financial stipend, which provides great support by covering living costs, was another factor in my decision. Lastly, the possibility of starting a program without a master’s degree was a great opportunity for me."
