Abstract
This dissertation explores the relationship between economic actions and relationships in three contexts: friendships in markets, customer relationships in auctions, and village communities during the 1930s Weimar Republic. The study suggests that economic decisions can affect long-term relationships, which subsequently influence both economic and social behaviors.
