Research Environment

  • The Institute of Labor Economics (IZA) is a private research institute funded by the Deutsche Post Foundation. It focuses on the analysis of national and international labor markets and offers policy advice on labor market issues.
  • The Max Planck Institute for Research on Collective Goods (MPI) was established in 2003. Its mission is to study the law, economics, and politics of collective goods. Major projects include the analysis of incentives for the revelation of public-goods preferences, the design of institutions for the provision of collective goods, and the regulation of financial markets and financial institutions in order to safeguard financial stability.
  • The Behavior and Inequality Research Institute (briq) was founded in 2016. It is a research platform seeking to advance innovative thinking about the sources and consequences of inequality while pushing the frontiers of behavioral economics research.
