Knowledge in foreign languages and in programs such as STATA, SPSS, LaTex is not only helpful for economists during their studies, but also a qualification for the job market.

IT courses at the department

The Department of Economics offers  IT courses in cooperation with the student council :

  • R (5 days)
  • Stata (2 days)
  • MATLAB
  • Latex

Courses are taught by masters or PhD students in economics, mathematics or computer science. Registration takes place via the student council. 

IT- Courses of HRZ (University Computer Center)

The Computer Center of the University (HRZ) offers free IT courses for employees and students of the University of Bonn.

The offer includes courses for beginners and advanced students:

  • Create scientific papers (LaTex)
  • Writing scientific papers (Writer of Libre Office / MS WORD)
  • Table Scaling (MS Excel)
  • Planning of scientific papers (Gantt chart, concept mapping and process modeling)
  • Data Analysis (SPSS)
  • Presentation (MS PowerPoint)
  • VBA Programming (VBA; Java)
  • Databases (MS Access)
  • Graphics Editing (GIMP)

Learning Languages

It is open to every student of the University of Bonn to learn extracurricular languages. Registration and much more information can be found on the pages of the Sprachlernzentrum.
