Study structure: Economics Dual-Subject (from wise 2024/25)
Two equally weighted subjects are studied in the dual-subjects Bachelor's degree, in each of which 78 CP are acquired. The so-called "interdisciplinary practical area" and the Bachelor's thesis comprise 12 CP. The Bachelor's thesis can be completed in one of the two subjects. The "interdisciplinary practical area" or "free compulsory elective area" serves to develop both subject-specific and interdisciplinary key skills (e.g. language skills, theoretical and methodological training, practical orientation, etc.).

Structure: Economics
The subject "Economics" in the dual-subject model is divided into a compulsory area (basic studies) and two subject-related elective areas:
Basic Studies
The compulsory area comprises 18 CP, teaches basic methodological knowledge of economics and introduces students to the basic concepts and contexts of economics.
The following modules are compulsory:
- Grundzüge der Volkswirtschaftslehre
- Mathematische Methoden der Wirtschaftswissenschaften
Elective Area
In the (subject-related) elective area, you collect 60 CP. A distinction is made between the basic specialization (compulsory elective area 1) and the individual specialization (compulsory elective area 2). The variable scope of the two elective areas offers optimal coordination of methodological knowledge with the particular specialization or the opportunity to prepare for the advanced Master's degree course in Economics.
Deepening the basics
Individual focus
In elective area 1, you will deepen your knowledge of the basics. You can choose between two and a maximum of four modules and thus acquire at least 12 credit points or a maximum of 39 credit points.
- Angewandte Datenanalyse
- Makroökonomik I
- Mikroökonomik I
- Ökonometrie
- Statistik
In elective area 2, you set your focus, deepen the economic contexts you have learned, and apply methodological and theoretical knowledge to selected economic issues.
Depending on the number of modules selected in compulsory elective area 1, you will choose at least four to a maximum of six modules to achieve 21 to 48 CP.
Students wishing to write a Bachelor's thesis with a focus on economics are recommended to choose the module "Scientific Work".
