From their 2nd year onwards, BGSE students participate in one or more of the BGSE workshops where current research projects are discussed.

BGSE Workshops and Seminars

These six workshops are acknowledged by the BGSE for students' presentations within the good standing regulations:

  • BGSE Brown Bag Seminar (in winter only and for students at the beginning of their dissertation phase)
  • BGSE Behavioral Economics / Applied Micro Workshop (in cooperation with CRC TR 224)
  • BGSE Micro Workshop 
  • Econometrics and Statistics Seminar (in cooperation with CRC TR 224)
  • Finance Seminar (in cooperation with CRC TR 224)
  • Bonn Macro Lunch Seminar (BMLS)

Doctorate plusBIGS

As part of the Bonn International Graduate Schools (BIGS), our doctoral students benefit from the Doctorate plusBIGS program, which is a structured qualification track that complements rigorous research training in economics.

  • Targeted skills: Workshops and courses on academic writing, presenting, leadership, project and time management, research ethics, and transferable skills essential for careers inside and outside academia.
  • International outlook: Training is offered in English and designed for a diverse, global community of doctoral researchers.
  • Structured support: Alongside close supervision of dissertation projects, students gain access to professional development, peer exchange, and interdisciplinary learning opportunities.
  • Exclusively for BIGS members: Doctoral students in Economics at Bonn are eligible to register via their graduate school and may also participate in selected workshops from the university-wide Doctorate plus program.

      All seminars and workshops of the economics department as well as some of our affiliated institutions are published weekly (during terms) in the Bonn Econ News.
