ERC Starting Grant for Amelie Schiprowski
The Department of Economics congratulates Jun.-Prof. Dr. Amelie Schiprowski: She has been awarded an ERC Starting Grant worth €1.5 million. The European Research Council (ERC) uses this funding line to support researchers at the beginning of their careers. The grant will enable her to carry out her own research projects on the topic of career entry in tight labor markets over the next five years.

Bonn graduate Peter Andre receives the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize
Peter Andre has been awarded the Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Prize for his research expertise in behavioral economics, particularly in relation to human behavior in the context of climate change. The economist, who graduated from the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn and completed his doctorate at the Bonn Graduate School of Economics, is one of ten prize winners in 2025. Funding extended for ECONtribute & HCM
A huge success for the University of Bonn: yesterday, all six of the University of Bonn's existing Clusters of Excellence were selected for further funding in the nationwide Excellence Competition. In addition, both newly applied Bonn cluster initiatives will receive funding from the federal and state governments. This means that Bonn will be represented by a total of eight clusters in the coming funding period - more than at any other university in Germany.

Aapo Stenhammar joins the Department of Economics
Aapo Stenhammar finished his PhD at Aalto University, Finland, this summer 2024. During the PhD, he visited the UC Berkeley and the IIES at Stockholm University. Before his PhD, he did his MSc at the Stockholm School of Economics and BSc at the University of Helsinki.

There have never been so many ERC Starting Grants at once at the University of Bonn: no fewer than seven researchers have been successful with their applications in the highly competitive European Research Council (ERC) funding process.
With their funding of some €1.5 million each, the researchers will be able to realize their projects over the next five years.
