Shanghai Global Ranking of Academic Subjects 2023:
The Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) goes back to a project carried out at Shanghai Jiao Tong University from 1999 to 2001, which led to the publication of the first global university ranking, the so-called Shanghai Ranking, in 2003 and has been published annually since then. A particular focus is on measuring research performance based on publication and citation data as well as globally recognized awards.

QS Ranking by Subject 2024
From 2004 to 2009, the British company Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) still published jointly with Times Higher Education. Since then, the QS World University Rankings have been published separately. QS also publishes a number of other rankings, including individual subject and regional rankings.

THE Ranking by Subject 2024
The THE ranking has been published annually by the British magazine Times Higher Education (THE) since 2004. The World University Ranking is based primarily on reputation surveys, data reporting and publication data.
