Manchot Lecture 2026 - Featuring Melissa Dell

The Bonn Graduate School of Economics invites you to the 19th Manchot Lecture. Professor Melissa Dell (Andrew E. Furer Professor of Economics, Harvard University) will give a lecture titled

"Credible Measurement in the Age of AI".
Professor Dell's research focuses on economic growth and political economics. Her work examines, among other topics, the factors behind the long-run persistence of poverty and prosperity, the effects of trade-induced job loss on crime, the impacts of U.S. foreign intervention, and the effects of weather on economic growth.

Before the Lecture, the BGSE will present the inaugural Cläre Tisch Prize for an Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Economics to Dr. Christina Brinkmann.
The Manchot Lecture is open to the public and addresses a general audience interested in contemporary economics research. External guests do not need to register. BGSE affiliates are kindly asked to register by October 26 to secure a place at the subsequent BGSE get-together.
