The University of Bonn’s Department of Economics is one of the strongest research departments in the field of economics in Europe. Through research and teaching, we aim to contribute to addressing major societal challenges and to provide impulses for effective and evidence-based economic policy. Our focus is on the education of young economists from the bachelor’s to the doctoral level.

Mengshan Xu joined the Department of Economics at the University of Bonn in October 2026 as a substitute professor of econometrics.

Presentation of the First Cläre Tisch Prize at the Manchot Lecture 2026

On 10 November 2026, the Department of Economics and the Bonn Graduate School of Economics (BGSE) will present for the first time the newly established Cläre Tisch Prize for an Outstanding Doctoral Dissertation in Economics. The prize recognizes outstanding doctoral dissertations completed at the University of Bonn’s Department of Economics. The award ceremony will take place as part of the 19th Manchot Lecture and will honor Christina Brinkmann.
