Hitotsubashi University
Founded in 1875 as the first business school in Japan, the Hitotsubashi University remains one of the country's most renowned institutions for business administration, economics, and sociology. Over the years, it has become Japan's premier institution for education and research in the social sciences.Its multiple campuses are mostly located in Kunitachi City in western Tokyo. Of its around 6,200 students, 900 are international. The university ranks 2nd in Japan in the Shanghai Ranking in Economics and tied 5th in Japan in the Times Higher Education Ranking in Business and Economics (as of 12.2025).
Course overview
The Hitotsubashi University requires either Japanese proficiency of JLPT Level 2 or English proficiency at the B2 (CEFR) level. The proof of English as the sole teaching language suffices for Master's students.
