Current note

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Student Registry currently requires students to make inquiries exclusively via email, phone or post. Also, enrollment is currently done via postal mail (for detailed information see Student Registry – "Information on the coronavirus").

Enrollment after admission

Information on how to enroll is usually provided in your letter of admission. This year, however, there are some open questions regarding an online registration that admitted Master students might have to go through before enrolling. We will update you as soon as we have new information. Please do not start the enrollment process until you have received additional information. Enrollment will take place via postal mail only.

A list of the required documents is available on the pages of the Student Registry (please scroll down to "documents required")

As Master studens, you will also need to submit

  • Your letter of admission
  • Your Bachelor certificate (if alreday available) and transcript of records (for international students). Please note: If your Bachelor certificate is your first university entrance qualification granting you admission to a university, it will need to be submitted as an officially certified copy.
  • Bachelor students currently enrolled with the University of Bonn will only need to submit their letter of admission and student ID number via their University email address in order to change to the Master degree program.
  • If you have previously studied at a German university (either as degree-seeking or as exchange student): Please do not forget your certificate of deregistration (see the section on changing university)!

If you have additional questions regarding enrollment, feel free to contact the Student Registry.

Enrollment period for both German and international students:

September 1 - October 15

Please note: During the enrollment process, you will receive an e-mail requesting payment of the social contribution fee. Please transfer the money as quickly as possible as you will get your student documentation including your student ID (which is valid as a ticket in Bonn and NRW) and Uni ID (which you will need for access to online classes and materials) only after the payment has been received.

Do NOT forget to include your email address. Do NOT send the originals of the required documents. Send certified copies of the documents when required. The Student Registry needs to receive the documents within the enrollment period: Send them in time!

Registration Exam Office

The Economics Examination Office (Wirtschaftswissenschaftliches Prüfungsamt) organizes and coordinates all exams and keeps your file. In order for the Prüfungsamt to open your file, you will need to fill out the registration form online.

In the process of this admission, the Exam Office will need to receive certified copies and official translations of your documents (Bachelor degree, Transcript of Records, language certificate), a CV and a photo. More detailed information can be found on their webpage. The registration (= Admission) is possible from the start of the semester until December 10. (more info in the timetable available from the exam office).
